Ce n\u2019est pas la participation qui est en cause, explique Jean-Louis Laville, mais l\u2019absence de coh\u00e9rence entre trois p\u00f4les : l\u2019environnement de l\u2019entreprise (le couple march\u00e9-produits), le p\u00f4le \u00ab\u00a0techniques-organisation\u00a0\u00bb, le p\u00f4le \u00ab\u00a0ressources humaines-relations professionnelles \u00bb.<br> A partir d\u2019une enqu\u00eate portant sur des entreprises situ\u00e9es dans cinq pays europ\u00e9ens et pratiquant la participation, il d\u00e9gage plusieurs mod\u00e8les participatifs selon que l\u2019entreprise produit \u00e0 la demande dans un environnement impr\u00e9visible (mod\u00e8le professionnel) ou r\u00e9alise une production de masse dans un environnement pr\u00e9visible (mod\u00e8le rationnel), et selon que la finalit\u00e9 vis\u00e9e est de renforcer la coh\u00e9sion de l\u2019ensemble du personnel ou de faire \u00e9merger une \u00e9lite. Loin d\u2019\u00eatre un gadget, ou une entreprise de manipulation, la participation devient alors un moyen, pour l\u2019entreprise, de \u00ab&nbsp;cr\u00e9er du lien social\u00a0\u00bb et, du coup, d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la coh\u00e9rence entre les trois p\u00f4les indiqu\u00e9s.
